Bush's Paris visit met by protests Sat, 14 Jun 2008 11:40:23

Sarkozy's warm reception of Bush is condemned by thousands of Parisians.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy supports President Bush's message of a rebound in US-European relations, despite wide scale protests.

US-European relations have been rocky since the US-led invasion of Iraq, but even before he was elected last year, Sarkozy has been
working to mend relations with the US.

Bush arrived in Paris June 13 on his final European tour as US president and was met by thousands of Parisians, protesting Sarkozy's support for his policies.

Protesters condemned the US-led invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan and expressed their support for the Palestinian and Iraqi people and
every other country that has been attacked by what they called "American and British imperialism. "

Two protesters enacted what they called a "citizens' arrest" of George W. Bush, leading a man dressed as Bush along the street in
chains accused of criminal acts....
